Many people across the country and the world love the fall. There is something about the cooling temperatures, leaves changing color and falling off of the trees that makes people excited!

Therefore, Autumn can be a great time to get out and enjoy certain festivals and activities which are going on and planned up and down the country, the cooler weather means that people love to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. Activities such as navigating corn mazes, hay rides and harvest festivals are top of the order.

Here in Schaumburg this coming weekend there is a fantastic opportunity to step back in time and have some fun as part of Schaumburg’s Autumn Harvest Festival on October 2nd.

Those who are into their history will be transported to the 1880s and 1790s at Spring Valley’s Volkening Heritage Farm in Schaumburg (201 S. Plum Grove Road) where this year’s autumnal celebration features several new historic demonstrators and food vendors as well as some history themed activities. These activities include cow milking, cider pressing, farm chores and more! There will also be traditional fall festival activities like pumpkin decorating, children’s crafts and others. You can even watch a blacksmith at work!

What is for sure is that an event like this will draw a crowd and is a fun day out for local residents. Admission costs $4 per person or $16 per family of six or fewer. Additional members are $4 each. Children 3 years old and younger are free. Parking is is available at the Nature Center on Schaumburg Road and off Plum Grove Road across from the Heritage Farm.

All in all, this fall harvest festival is a great example which shows the fantastic community spirit that is Schaumburg, Illinois!
